ANIMAL ART FOR CHILDREN

What is your child’s favourite toy ‘cuddly’ animal or mythical creature? A unicorn perhaps, or a kitten? Or maybe a lioness, bear, or dinosaur? You can commission an affordable, personalised painting of their beloved animal, as a permanent Guardian, that they can go to sleep and awaken to every day.

Animal Art for Children by Playtime Portraits

how does it work?

Your child can choose a photograph of their favourite animal, or just let me find some images for them to choose from*. I will then prepare a canvas board, and sketch in the image and background composition. Then I will text photos of the various stages of the rendering – in the style of images on this site – and, if there is anything your child wishes to add or change it can be done in these early stages**.

When the final image is approved I can either add a white frame flush to the image, or leave it for you to select a frame of your child’s choice. I will then post it to you, without any glass for safety reasons.

Allow 7 to 10 days for the painting plus 3 days for postage in the UK.

*images must be sourced from the public domain and not infringe any copyright.

** alterations can only be accommodated in the very early stages to avoid extra time and therefore addition to the fee.

The COMMISSION FEE for an A4 image is £70 plus p&p. For larger images a fixed quotation will be provided, prior to starting the commission, which will depend on size and complexity of the chosen subject matter.

Payment by bank transfer in the UK, or via PayPal from other locations.

About JOHN

My name is John, and I have been painting all my life. I have been doing these commissions for the last 3 years in this style of black canvas board background, with acrylic paints applied in lines of colour following the forms of the subject.  I first experimented with this style when I revisited Australia, where I was for a while as a child, and was reminded of the black backgrounds of Aboriginal  Art.

Also, where appropriate, I include either actual images, or descriptions on the back of paintings. These suggest the symbolism, of the animal or mythological creature, to be found in descriptions of Power Animals or Spirit Guides.

I have worked with symbolic imagery in my various careers in publishing, advertising, counselling, and as a therapist. I draw on mythology and dreamwork, and the collective unconscious themes, where appropriate.

"Thank you John, my granddaughter loves the picture of her elephant, I see her gazing lovingly at it when she's in bed. It brings her so much joy and she says she feels safe at night knowing that the elephant is watching over her."
